City
and County of Honolulu Storm Drain Stenciling
On November
19th ASCE YMF members came out and partnered with the City and County of
Honolulu to conduct their annual storm drain stenciling community service
project. Twenty-two volunteers scoured the neighborhoods of Waikele
with spray paint can in hand stenciling “Mai Kiloi Opala Malama i Ke Kai”
over the storm drains of Waikele. In addition, volunteers also helped
pass out educational packets to home owners detailing the hazards of dumping
waste down the storm drain. In all it was a productive half day event
with a total of 85 catch basins being marked and over 200 packets being
passed out. A big mahalo to Ms. Iwalani Sato of the City and County
for helping organize this event and thanks for everyone for coming out
to help.
