As you all know, Engineers Week (EWeek), with the theme of “Inspiring Wonder” is coming up next month, February 18-24.  ASCE will be participating in several EWeek events and we'd like to get our members involved!  Here are a few that we wanted to highlight that may interest you: 

Windward Mall EWeek Exhibits, Saturday, February 17th. 

  • ASCE Hawaii Section Younger Member Forum (YMF) is organizing and manning a booth at Windward Mall.  If you are interested in helping on the day of, which may include spreading the word about engineering and helping kids with an activity, please contact Carly Kaneko (ckaneko@ascehawaiiymf.org).


Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Thursday, February 22nd.

  •  ASCE Hawaii Section is looking for female engineers who can joins us as we visit Lanakila Elementary School classrooms (K-5) to talk about what we do as an engineer, and do activities with the students.  More details to follow, but if you’re interested please contact Lara Karamatsu (lkaramatsu@ascehawaii.org) or Dayna Nemoto-Shima (dnemoto@ascehawaii.org).


2018 Engineers Week Banquet, Saturday, February 24th. 


We are proud to announce that two of our very own ASCE members will be celebrated as they accept their awards at the banquet.  Please come out to support our ASCE members and EWeek. (flyer attached)


- Ron Iwamoto, 2008 ASCE Hawaii Section President, has been selected as the 2018 Engineer of the Year. 
- Norman Leong, 2017 ASCE Hawaii Section YMF President, has been selected as the 2018 Young Engineer of the Year. 

A friendly reminder, we will not be holding a monthly dinner meeting in February due to all the Engineers Week fun, so the next one will be in March.
