Program:        “KPWAVE — An Empirical Approach to Surge Prediction at Kaumalapau Harbor, Lanai” by Christopher Goody, P.E., Ocean Engineer, Sea Engineering, Inc.  Harbor surge is a significant concern for safe operations at Kaumalapau Deep Draft Harbor on the Island of Lanai.  Mr. Goody’s presentation will discuss his empirical approach to developing a useful planning tool for daily operations as well as for extreme events by predicting the expected surge heights at specific locations within the harbor given the current or expected deepwater wave conditions at a permanent wave gauge offshore of Kaumalapau.
