Jeff Pearson, deputy director
of Maui Board of Water Supply talked to 89 attendees at the joint ASCE,
AWWA, HWEA luncheon meeting on December 17, 2003 at TreeTops Restaurant.
He discussed current water issues in Maui County and what the Maui BWS
is doing. Of concern was the recent designation of the Iao aquifer
as a ground water control aquifer and lower water levels in the Waihee
aquifer. Alternatives were looked at such as microfiltration, private sources,
H-poko Well to feed Paia, and new Maluhia Well north of Waihee. |
