CIVIL ENGINEER III

City and County of Honolulu

POSITION SUMMARY:
Does moderately difficult professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty and two years of non-registered professional CIVIL engineering experience.

Substitution: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering will substitute for one year of the required professional civil engineering experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.

CIVIL ENGINEER V (GEOTECHNICAL)
City and County of Honolulu

POSITION SUMMARY:
​Performs difficult professional engineering work in evaluating the design, construction, maintenance and operation for civil engineering geotechnical projects; coordinates and reviews the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of registered professional Civil Engineering experience in soil mechanics and foundations involving the investigation of soil and rock below the ground to determine its properties for the design of foundations for bridge and highway structures, design of roadway pavement, and the assessment and mitigation of hazards from earth movement and rock fall.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

  1. Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil Engineering.  Applicants with an out-of-state license in Civil Engineering must obtain the Hawaii license prior to appointment.​
  2. Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of registered professional Civil Engineering experience.


LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

  1. Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil Engineering. You must submit a copy of your professionallicense within 7 days of filing your application.  Applicants with an out-of-state license in Civil Engineering must obtain the Hawaii license prior to appointment.

CIVIL ENGINEER VII

POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans and directs the activities of a major and extensively organized engineering branch or bureau, or assists in administering the overall activities of a major engineering division; directs the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in civil engineering and four years of registered professional civil engineering experience, including or supplemented by two years of administrative engineering experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
1. Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Civil Engineering.  Applicants with an out-of-state license in Civil Engineering must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.

2. Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER V

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs difficult professional engineering work in supervising and participating in the design, installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems, and/or in the review and analysis of plans and specifications for mechanical engineering features and compliance with code requirements; and performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: 

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in Mechanical Engineering. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: 
One year of registered professional Mechanical Engineering experience.

​LICENSE REQUIREMENT: 

  1. Current State of Hawaii registration as a professional engineer in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Applicants with an out-of-state license in Mechanical Engineering must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
