Description and Desired Qualifications Transportation Engineer Careers - Honolulu, HI 
The challenge? Helping our communities stay safely on the move. Our Transportation Engineer professionals work on exciting and engaging mobility and infrastructure projects. You will be part of a team completing a wide range of planning, design and construction projects related to transportation systems that provide modern mobility for moving people and products safely.

Travel for this position will be minimal and only as needed by individual projects. You should be a self-motivated professional with a proven and successful track record in a transportation engineer position. You should possess a BS in Civil Engineering, 7-10 years roadway design and/or transportation planning experience and a Hawaii PE (or the ability to acquire within 6 months), and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each transportation engineering opportunity.

Our Transportation Engineers

  • Work in a team environment & assist in the planning, design & delivery of complex road & highway transportation projects
  • Have strong oral and written communications skills
  • Use traditional & design/build delivery formats 
  • Are responsible for roadway geometric design, grading design, channelization layout, development of plans, preparing permit applications, specifications, estimates & services during construction 
  • Are responsible for research, transportation and planning analyses, report writing and development of presentations
  • Direct their team’s work, develop & mentor junior staff, provide technical & quality guidance, & assist with management of projects
  • Interface with clients & stakeholders, and participate in public involvement processes
  • Participate in various marketing activities 
  • Work independently with minimal day to day supervision
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years relevant engineering roadway design and/or transportation planning experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Hawaii PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months
