President's Message

Welcome to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Hawaii Section Younger Member Forum (YMF).  Our mission as ASCE members is to serve as a resource for young engineers and engineering students.  The official age range is 35 years of age or younger, but we welcome everyone that is young at heart.  In order to foster continued learning, development, and fellowship amongst the young civil engineers of Hawaii, the Hawaii Section YMF organizes field trips to interesting civil engineering projects, refresher courses for those taking the professional engineering exam, social/networking functions, and community service projects.

Please take the time to browse our website for a glimpse of our past and upcoming activities as well as the calendar of events.  Whether working in Hawaii or just visiting, we always welcome and encourage young engineers to become active and participate in our activities.  Please contact the Hawaii Section YMF for more information or attend our next monthly meeting.  Please let us know if you would like to be added to our e-mail distribution list to receive notices of future events.

Background of the Hawaii Section YMF

The Hawaii Section Younger Member Forum was first organized (as the Associate Member Forum) in 1991 and was officially recognized in 1992. It was renamed in 1998 as it caters particularly to the needs of younger members of the organization. Among the activities that have been sponsored by the Hawaii Section YMF are: 

• PE Refresher Courses/Study Groups 
• A short course on Soil Improvement and Ground Modification 
• A workshop on the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System 
• A Hawaii Section Management Conference 
• An on-going Employer Recognition Program 
• Various Service Activities 
• Social and Recreational Activities 
• Hawaii Section YMF Bylaws (updated as of October 4, 2005)
