Member Forum hosted a guest speaker at their July 6, 2004 regular meeting
at the office of M&E Pacific, Inc. About twenty (20) contractor and
engineering firm representatives were in attendance for this great presentation
complete with pupus and beverages.
Jet grout
contractor, Layne GeoConstruction, was represented by their island field
engineer/superintendent Kelly McGonagle. Ms. McGonagle’s presentation covered
the numerous applications of jet grouting in Hawaii as well as their other
projects on the mainland. Ms. McGonagle discussed the use of single and
double fluid jet grouting as effective means of providing bearing support
for future and existing structures and pipelines as well as for use in
the control of groundwater. Projects of particular note in the presentation
were Layne’s recently completed work at the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment
Plant as well as their imminent startup at the H-1 project near Aiea.
