| On Saturday,
July 31st, the ASCE Hawaii Section YMF will assist the City and County
of Honolulu by stenciling storm drains for public awareness. Each
year, thousands of gallons of household pollutants are washed down streets
and storm drains that empty directly into reservoirs, streams and the surrounding
ocean.
The City
& County of Honolulu tries to minimize such pollution by having volunteers
stencil a warning on storm drains: "Dump No Waste - Goes to Ocean."
If you would like to volunteer for this event, please email eric.deruyter@ttemi.com
by July 26th. We will be meeting a City representative at 8 a.m.
at the makai corner of Pi'ikoi Street and Ala Moana Boulevard for instructions.
Please do not be late. The event will last approximately 2 hours.
Afterwards
at 10 a.m., all volunteers, friends, and members are invited to join the
Hawaii Section YMF for a picnic at Ala Moana Park. Food, refreshments,
and volleyball will be provided. Mark your calendars for July 31st
and
we'll see you there!
NOTE: This activity
was postponed from May 15th due to a heavy storm event. |
