Community Service Activity:  Wailupe Loop Trail Maintenance
Monday, October 26, 2009
HWEA, AWWA, and ASCE Joint Community Service Activity
Please join us for a great outdoor volunteer activity on Sunday, September 13, 2009.  We will be helping the Hawaii Trail and Mountain Club (HTMC) with trail maintenance on the Wailupe Loop trail (in Aina Haina) from 7:45 am to about 4:00 pm.

Details are listed below:
• We will be trimming overgrown plants while being careful not to cut the native species.
• Meet at the dead-end of Hao Street.  See attached map for details.
• You will need to sign a waiver form, so please arrive on time so you can sign the form before we start.
• We will break up into small groups.  Some groups may go the entire length of the trail (6 miles).  If you feel that you rather do only part of the trail, that is fine too.  Know your own limits.  There are HTMC members that stay in the beginning part of the trail.
• Around noon, your group can break for lunch where ever you are.  Lunch will be provided to you before you begin the trail work.  Bring water.
• Shortly after lunch, everyone heads back out to the start of the trail where we will have a pot luck.  HWEA, AWWA, and ASCE will provide food and drinks for the pot luck (no need to bring pot luck food).
• If you need to leave early, let me or one of your group members know you are leaving so we don't go looking for you in the mountain when we're done.

Things to bring:
• Tools to trim plants (loppers or whatever you are comfortable with)
• Gloves
• LOTS of water
• Backpack for all your gear, lunch, and water
• Wear adequate clothing and good shoes

Should you have any questions please email or call me.  Please let me know by Tuesday, September 8, 2009 if you would like to sign up for this activity.

Thank you,
