We hope you’re staying safe during these different and trying times. Please know that the health and safety of our members is our top priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, future ASCE Hawaii in-person events, including our section dinner meetings, are temporarily on hold. We will keep you informed via e-blasts, our facebook page, and/or notices posted on our website at ascehawaii.org. Please stay safe, care for each other, especially our kupuna, and continue to be vigilant about best health practices.
2020 Outstanding Civil Engineering Awards
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Hawai’i Section seeks nominations for the 2020 Hawai’i Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Awards, which honors the best and the brightest achievements within the local civil engineering industry. Various awards will be given to those projects that demonstrate innovative and outstanding civil engineering accomplishments by Hawai’i’s design and construction professionals.
Nominated projects and research/studies will be considered for eleven award categories. A select panel of judges will determine the applicable award category for each nomination. Awards may be given in all categories if a sufficient number of worthy nominations are received. Only one project will be selected as the overall winner, and recognized as the 2020 Hawai’i Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award Winner.
Outstanding Civil Engineering Award Banquet
Due to safety concerns and current restrictions on indoor gatherings, we are planning for a virtual “awards banquet.” Winning teams will be asked to present virtually. They may choose to do their presentations live or pre-recorded. The virtual “awards banquet” will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020. More information about our virtual awards ceremony will be available in August. For more information click here.

CANCELLED: 18th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament in Honor of Steven Fong
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to cancel this year’s golf tournament, which would have been held at Pearl County Club in August. We want you to know that this decision was not made lightly. We also want to express our heart-felt gratitude to our local industry and ASCE community who, year after year, have come together to support this event, the proceeds of which gets donated to our University of Hawaii at Manoa ASCE Student Chapter. We are working on other ways to help raise funds for our Student Chapter and will keep you all posted. Again, THANK YOU and STAY SAFE!

The page also offers several ways to work more effectively while at home and activities to take advantage of in the down time you may have – even fun things to do with the keiki! And don’t forget that all members have 10 free PDHs! Now may be a good time to catch up on some of those technical on-demand webinars.
