2014 Outstanding Civil Engineering Awards

A great time was had by all at the 2014 ASCE Hawaii Section Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Awards banquet held at the HASR Bistro on September 27.  After attendees grooved to the nostalgic sound of the Band Groove and enjoyed a delicious dinner, Region 8 Director Kristina Swallow kicked things off by installing the Hawaii Section 2014-2015 executive board comprised of: Immediate Past-President Brian Enomoto, President Glenn Miyasato, President-Elect Ben Rasa, Vice President Tim Goshi, Secretary Lara Karamatsu, Treasurer Eric Arakawa, and YMF President Puna Kaneakua.

For the main event, the following seven projects were recognized for outstanding civil engineering achievement awards:

Best Small Project:  Emergency Repairs of Ihiihiilauakea Bridge on Kalanianaole Hwy, Oahu, Hawaii

​After brief presentations of each project and introductions of the respective project teams, the Hawaii Section announced the Grand Award Winner to be the Hana Highway Route 360 Emergency Repairs.  As this year’s Hawaii Section OCEA Grand Award winner, this project will also be nominated for the ASCE Region 8 OCEA Award.
